Dana 30 4.56 Ring and Pinion with Master Install Kit

This bundle is everything you need for a Dana 30 front regear: a Motive Gear D30-456TJ 4.56 ring and pinion set and an R30LRAMK master install kit. The gear set is standard rotation with 41 ring gear teeth and 9 pinion teeth, made from 8620 steel.

Fitment: standard-rotation Dana 30 front axles like the ones under the Jeep TJ Wrangler and XJ Cherokee. It is not for the reverse-rotation Dana 30 used in the JK. Check your axle tag and the pinion position before you order. The master kit includes Koyo pinion and carrier bearings, a crush sleeve, pinion seal, cover gasket, marking compound and the hardware for the install.

The most common reason people buy this set is bigger tires. When you go up to 33-35 in tires on a 3.07 or 3.55 geared Jeep, the front and rear both need matching 4.56 gears to bring back the lost low-end and keep the transmission from hunting between gears. Set pinion depth with the shims, set preload with the crush sleeve, then check backlash and read the pattern with the marking compound before you button it up.
