RE4F04B Transmission Valve Body with Solenoids, Nissan Maxima

This is a complete RE4F04B valve body with the solenoids mounted, pulled from a vehicle and refurbished. The RE4F04B is the Jatco 4-speed automatic Nissan put behind the VQ-series V6 in the 2000-2006 Maxima and the Infiniti I30 and I35, and it also appears in the X-Trail. It is a direct bolt-in for the original unit.

Valve body trouble on this transmission usually shows up as a flare on the 2-3 or 3-4 upshift, a hard or delayed engagement into drive, or a transmission that drops into limp mode and holds third gear. Worn valve bores and tired shift solenoids cause most of it, and the matching codes are shift solenoid A or B circuit faults, the line pressure solenoid, and gear ratio errors. Swapping in a known-good valve body is faster than chasing solenoids one at a time when the bores are worn.

The job is done with the transmission in the car. Drain the fluid, drop the pan, unplug the solenoid harness, then remove the valve body bolts in the order the service manual lists and lower it straight down so the check balls and accumulator springs do not fall out. Check that the manual valve lines up with the detent before torquing the new unit down. Refill with Nissan Matic-D or an equivalent fluid, check the level hot, and let the adaptive shift values relearn over a few drive cycles.

Because this is a used, refurbished assembly, confirm your transmission code on the tag or in the service records before ordering. The RE4F04A and RE4F04B share a case but are not always interchangeable at the valve body.
