FCA-only bidirectional scanner that reads TCM codes and runs transmission adaptations on Jeep, Dodge, RAM and Chrysler after a trans or valve body job.
The XTOOL IP500 for Jeep is the FCA version of the IP500 platform: it is built for Jeep, Dodge, RAM and Chrysler, so it reaches the modules a generic code reader never sees. It runs full-system diagnostics across every module the vehicle has - engine, transmission, ABS, SRS, body control and the rest - and pulls and clears codes from each one instead of just the check engine light.
On the transmission side, the reason to own it is the adaptation function. After a 45RFE, 545RFE, 68RFE, 62TE or 8HP rebuild, a valve body or solenoid pack swap, or a TCM replacement, the shift adaptives need to be reset and relearned or the truck will flare and bang shifts until they converge on their own. The IP500 runs the transmission adaptation from the tool, and full bidirectional control lets you command outputs from the scanner to prove whether a component responds before you pull the pan.
It also covers the routine FCA service jobs: suspension ride-height calibration after a Wrangler lift, throttle relearn for rough idle on a RAM, oil life reset, ABS bleed, injector coding, battery registration and EPB retract - 18-plus special functions in all. Software updates are free over WiFi for the life of the tool with no annual subscription.
One note on 2018 and newer FCA vehicles: the secure gateway blocks write functions unless you log in through FCA AutoAuth. The IP500 supports AutoAuth, but the AutoAuth account itself is a separate paid subscription from FCA, or you can use a 12+8 bypass cable instead.
