A complete service set for the 09G (Aisin TF-60SN) six-speed automatic behind the 1.8T in the 2014-2018 Jetta, 2014-2017 Passat and 2014-2017 Beetle. It includes 6 x 1 liter of German-made ATF meeting VW spec G 055 540 A2, the transmission filter, the pan gasket with its integrated spacers, and the drain plug sealing washer. VW calls this a lifetime fill. It is not - the fluid darkens and the friction modifier fades, and by 60,000 to 80,000 miles that shows up as a hard 1-2 shift and a bump coming out of a stop.
The 09G pan gasket carries molded spacers that set bolt crush height, which is why you replace the gasket rather than reusing it - overtightening a reused gasket is the usual cause of a weeping pan on this transmission. Order of work: drain through the plug, drop the pan, change the filter, fit the new gasket, torque the pan bolts evenly, then refill through the fill plug on the side of the case with the engine running and the fluid brought up to the specified temperature window. The 09G sets level by overflow at temperature like the 722.6 does, so a cold fill will read full and still be low.
Plan on the full 6 liters for a pan drop with a filter. Total capacity is higher than what drains out, so a single service exchanges roughly half the fluid; on a neglected unit, doing a second service a few thousand miles later gets the rest without the risk of a high-pressure flush machine.
