09K TF-61SN Transmission Master Rebuild Kit VW Transporter

This is a full master overhaul kit for the 09K six-speed automatic, the transverse Aisin TF-61SN unit (also cataloged as AWTF-61SN and AF40-6) that Volkswagen fitted to the 2003-2015 Transporter. It covers the friction plates, steel plates, overhaul gasket set, piston lip seals, sealing rings and o-rings you replace on a full teardown. It matches OE part references 09K321011H, 09K321015D, 09K321021R and 09K321025F.

The 09K normally fails the same way twice: the clutch frictions cook and the rubber lip seals on the apply pistons go hard, so the pack takes too long to fill and the shift flares before it grabs. You see it as a slip under load, a long or bumpy upshift, or a delayed engagement into drive after the van sits overnight. New frictions alone will not fix it if the piston seals are still leaking apply pressure past the drum, which is why this kit ships both together.

On the bench: strip the case, wash and air-check every clutch circuit before you condemn anything, then rebuild each drum with the new seals and o-rings. Soak the new frictions in clean ATF for about thirty minutes before assembly so they do not scorch on first apply. Reuse your original selective steel and snap ring to set clutch pack clearance, measure it, and only change the selective if you are out of spec. The valve body is not part of this kit, so if you have a pressure or solenoid fault, diagnose that separately before you close the case.

Kit ships as one boxed set, 6.3 lb, and does not include hard parts, the pump, the torque converter or the filter housing.
