Overhauls the Ford 4F27E and Mazda FN4A-EL 4-speed automatic with frictions, steels, filter, brake band, gaskets and seals for Focus, Mazda 3, 5 and 6.
The 4F27E is Ford’s designation and FN4A-EL is Mazda’s for the same 4-speed front-wheel-drive automatic transaxle, also badged FNR5 and FS5A-EL. It sits behind the four-cylinder in a long list of small Fords and Mazdas, and when one starts slipping, banging into gear, flaring on the 2-3 shift, or refusing to move at all, the friction material and the seals have almost always given up long before the hard parts. This is the master kit you tear one down and put back together with.
Inside the box are the clutch frictions and steel plates, the overhaul gasket and rubber seal set, the lip seals and metal-clad seals, the sealing rings, the brake band, and a new filter so the rebuild goes back together clean. It covers the wearing parts you always replace on a teardown; it does not include the steel drums, the pump, or the pistons, which you reuse if they check out.
Fits the 4F27E / FN4A-EL / FNR5 transaxle used in the Ford Focus, EcoSport and Transit Connect, and the Mazda 2, Mazda 3, Mazda 5, Mazda 6, Protege, Tribute and CX-7. It replaces common service numbers including K71900KP, K71900KPX, DP2352, DP2483 and 46500F, so cross-reference your old kit box or the tag on the case before you order.
Lay the frictions out in a clean pan and soak the new clutches in ATF for at least 20 minutes before you build the drums so they are saturated when you set clearances. Air-check each clutch pack after assembly and set the band with a new strut. Do not reuse the old filter or the metal-clad seals even if they look fine.
