Remanufactured solenoid set with the internal wiring harness for the Mitsubishi F4A41 and F4A42 four-speed transaxle used by Hyundai and Kia.
The F4A41 and F4A42 are the Mitsubishi-designed four-speed transaxles that ended up under a large slice of the Hyundai, Kia and Mitsubishi front-drive fleet from the late nineties through 2011 - Sonata 2.4L, Optima 2.4L, Rondo 2.4L, Santa Fe 2.7L, Tiburon 2.0L, Lancer 2.0L, Galant 2.4L, Eclipse 2.4L, Outlander 2.4L, Grandis 2.4L, Space Star 1.8L and Mirage 1.5L. Every shift, the converter lockup and the line pressure command run through solenoids bolted to the valve body, and they are the first thing in the unit to go after a decade of hot fluid.
When they fail you get the familiar list: a bang into second, a flare between gears, converter shudder at light throttle, no upshift past third, or a straight drop into limp with P0750, P0755, P0765 or P0741 stored. Plenty of those units get pulled and rebuilt when the hydraulics and clutches were fine and only the electrical side had quit. This kit covers that repair without opening the case. The solenoids are referenced to the F4A41, F4A42, F4A51, V4A51 and R4A51 families, and the internal wiring harness that ties them to the case connector is included - worth having, because the harness insulation goes brittle in the same fluid that kills the solenoids.
The job is done from underneath with the pan off. Drain the fluid, drop the pan, pull the filter, then unplug the harness at each solenoid and at the case pass-through before touching the retainer bolts. Mark which solenoid came out of which bore - the on/off shift solenoids and the variable pressure control solenoid are not interchangeable and putting one in the wrong bore sets a fresh code the moment you start it. Clean the pan and magnet, fit the new O-rings, torque the retainers light, then refill and cycle the range selector through every position with the engine idling before you road test it.
These are remanufactured solenoids, not new production. They are cleaned, inspected and electrically tested before they ship, which is how nearly all supply for this transaxle moves - new-production solenoid packs for the F4A family have been out of the aftermarket for years.
