Complete master overhaul kit for the Mitsubishi F4A51 and F4A52 four-speed automatic, 1996 and up. It replaces Mitsubishi part numbers B124820A, B124880A and W124881A, and covers the same family used behind the 2.4L and 3.0L in Galant, Eclipse, Endeavor and Outlander, along with the Hyundai and Kia badged versions of this unit that share the F4A5x architecture.
Inside is what you actually consume on a full teardown: the friction plate pack, steels, the complete rubber and paper gasket set, lip seals, sealing rings, filter and the pan gasket. It is the parts you throw away once the case is split, not a partial seal-only kit, so you are not stopping mid-build to order a missing friction.
The F4A51 usually comes across the bench for a delayed or flared 2-3 shift, slipping under load once the fluid is hot, and a soaked underdrive clutch. Those are wear items - glazed frictions and hardened lip seals letting apply pressure bleed off. Fresh frictions and seals throughout is what puts the shift back where it belongs.
On the bench: strip the unit, wash and inspect the drums for scoring and the bores for wear before you open the kit. Air-check each clutch pack as you build it, set clutch clearance with the kit's steels, and soak the new frictions in ATF before assembly. Fill with the ATF the application calls for - this unit is sensitive to the wrong fluid spec.
