Ford 8.8 Ring and Pinion Installation Kit, Ford Racing M4210A

Ford Racing M-4210-A is the setup hardware kit for a gear swap in the Ford 8.8 inch axle. It covers every 8.8 from 1986 through 2014, solid-axle and IRS, so it fits Mustang, F-150, Explorer, Ranger, Crown Vic and the rest of the 8.8 family.

It is meant for jobs where the existing bearings are staying in. You get pinion depth shims and carrier shims, a new crush sleeve, pinion nut, pinion seal and ring gear bolts. There are no bearings in this kit. If your carrier or pinion bearings are pitted, noisy or have been run low on oil, buy a full master bearing kit instead.

On the bench: set pinion depth with the shims under the inner pinion bearing, torque the new nut against a fresh crush sleeve until you hit your preload spec, then set backlash and carrier preload with the side shims and check the pattern. Never reuse the old crush sleeve or ring gear bolts on a new gear set, which is exactly why this kit exists.
