GM 8.6 IRS Rear Pinion Bearing Kit, Motive Gear R8.6RPK

Motive Gear R8.6RPK is the pinion-side rebuild kit for the GM 8.6 inch independent rear differential used under the 2010-2015 Chevrolet Camaro. It does not fit the ZL1 rear. Use it when you are setting up new gears, or when the pinion bearings have started to whine on decel and the pinion seal is weeping.

The kit contains Koyo inner and outer tapered pinion bearings with races, a pinion seal, a crush sleeve, a new pinion nut, a pinion shim pack, marking compound with a brush, and thread locker. Carrier bearings are not included in this kit.

Bench notes: press the old races out and seat the new ones fully, then set pinion depth with the shim pack before you worry about preload. Use a new crush sleeve every time and bring the nut up slowly, checking rotating torque as you go, because an over-crushed sleeve means starting over. Run the marking compound on the ring gear to confirm the contact pattern before the cover goes back on.
