Type IV (Toyota calls it ATF Type T-IV) is the fluid Toyota and Lexus specified for their Aisin-built automatics through the mid-2000s, before the switch to WS. Idemitsu is one of the blenders that supplies fluid to that spec, so this is the same T-IV-grade ATF as the dealer bottle at a lower price per quart. T-IV is the correct fill for the pre-WS Aisin automatics: the A340 and A650 rear-drive families, the U140 and U151 front-drive units, the A960, and the four-speeds like A245E/A246E and U241E. That covers a lot of 1998-2006 Camry, Avalon, Solara, Sienna, Highlander, RAV4, 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra, plus Lexus ES300/330, RX300/330, GS300, IS300, and LS430. The one rule that matters: T-IV and WS are not interchangeable. If your dipstick, fill plug, or owner's manual calls out Type T-IV (or Type IV), use this; if it calls out WS (World Standard), use a WS fluid instead. Mixing the two is a common cause of harsh or flaring shifts.

These transmissions have no converter drain, so a real fluid change is a drain-and-fill you repeat: drop the pan or pull the fluid through the dipstick tube, refill the same measured amount, drive it to mix, and repeat until what comes out runs clean.
