1/2-Inch Drive Deep Impact Socket Set, 29-Piece SAE and Metric

A 29-piece 1/2-inch drive impact socket set: eleven SAE deep sockets from 3/8 inch to 1 inch, fifteen metric deep sockets from 10mm to 24mm, and 3-inch, 5-inch, and 10-inch extension bars. All sockets are 6-point and impact rated, made from heat treated chrome vanadium steel with a black phosphate finish, and laser etched with the size. They come in a molded case with the sizes stamped next to each slot.

This is the set that comes out when a transmission has to come down. Crossmember bolts, transmission mount nuts, bellhousing bolts, and torque converter cover fasteners on GM 4L60E and 4L80E, Ford 4R70W and 5R110W, and Dodge 46RE and 68RFE applications land in the 13mm to 18mm and 9/16 to 3/4 inch range, and the deep sockets clear the stud on transmission mount and crossmember hardware where a shallow socket bottoms out. The 10-inch extension gets you to the upper bellhousing bolts from underneath without pulling the exhaust.

Six-point walls grip the flats instead of the corners, which matters on the rusted crossmember and exhaust hardware you meet on the way to a transmission. These are impact rated, so they belong on an impact gun; a chrome hand socket on an impact will crack. Note that they are made for driving fasteners, not for torquing to spec on reassembly, so finish with a torque wrench.
