Ten pairs of replacement tips for the Lisle 49200 heavy-duty internal snap ring pliers, sized for the retaining rings inside an automatic transmission.
Ten pairs of interchangeable replacement tips for the Lisle 49200 heavy-duty internal snap ring pliers. When a tip bends under load, snaps off, or the little storage pouch goes missing on the bench, this set puts the tool back in service instead of it sitting useless in the box. The tips swap in seconds by loosening the set screw on the plier nose.
The reason you keep a full set on hand is that transmission snap rings come in a wide spread of diameters and tip angles. Big straight tips grab the large internal rings that hold a clutch drum or a rear case retainer; the smaller tips reach the clips on input and output shafts and inside pistons. Having straight, angled, and larger heavy-duty tips in one pouch means the right tip is already there when you drop into a 4L60E, 4L80E, or 6L80 and hit a ring you don't have the profile for.
Snap ring plier tips are usually the first thing to give out in a teardown. Prying a stiff internal ring out of a hardened groove puts all the load on that thin tip, and a bent or mushroomed tip will slip and let the ring launch. A fresh set of spares keeps a rebuild moving instead of stopping to order a single replacement tip. These are designed for the Lisle 49200 and fit other snap ring pliers that use the same set-screw interchangeable-tip system.
