This is the low-viscosity version of Lucas Oil's Multi-Vehicle ATF, and the distinction matters. Plenty of newer cars and light trucks no longer run the traditional-thickness fluid your older vehicles did. Their transmissions are spec'd around a thinner ATF for slightly better fuel economy and faster response, and pouring in a standard-viscosity fluid can throw off shift feel and clutch apply timing. It is blended from API Group III synthetic base oils rather than a conventional base, so it holds up better against heat and oxidation and resists forming the lacquer and sludge that gum up valve bodies over time. Shear-stable viscosity modifiers keep it from thinning out permanently after miles of hard shifting, and the friction modifier package is tuned for smooth, chatter-free shifts and a quiet locking torque converter. Before you fill, confirm your transmission actually calls for a low-viscosity fluid - many GM, Ford, and import automatics from roughly the last fifteen years do, but a lot of older units want the standard-viscosity multi-vehicle fluid instead. Using it as a full drain-and-fill or on a fluid exchange is the right way to get the benefit; a top-off works in a pinch.
