Replaces the single factory shift lever on a GM NP205 transfer case with two independent sticks so you can engage the front and rear output separately.
The factory NP205 shifter ties both shift rails to one lever, so your only choices are the ones GM gave you: 2Hi, 4Hi, neutral, and 4Lo. This twin-stick assembly replaces that single lever with two independent sticks, one per rail, so the front output and the range box are controlled separately.
That matters most in low range. With a stock lever you cannot be in 4Lo without the front driveshaft engaged, which binds the drivetrain on hard ground and fights you in tight turns. Two sticks let you drop into low range with the front axle disengaged, back the front in only when you need it, and pull it out again without leaving low. It also gives you front-only engagement, which is how a lot of people free a truck that has the rear end hung up.
The NP205 is the gear-driven cast-iron part-time case GM ran behind the TH350, TH400, SM465 and NP435 in 3/4- and 1-ton trucks and Blazers. This is the GM-pattern shifter. Before ordering, pull your floor boot and confirm your case uses the GM shift rail arrangement rather than a Dodge or Ford variant, since the rail spacing differs between them.
Levers and mount are stainless steel, so the part of the assembly that lives under the boot and takes road salt and trail water does not turn into a rusted seized mess the way the plated factory linkage does. Mounting hardware is included. Plan on trimming or replacing your floor boot, since two sticks will not come up through a single-lever opening.
