The 68RFE in 2013-2018 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks with the 6.7L Cummins uses a factory thermal bypass valve (TBV) in the cooler circuit that blocks flow to the external cooler until the fluid warms up. This billet 6061 aluminum kit replaces that valve so the transmission cooler sees full flow the moment the truck starts, not just after the fluid is already hot.
The stock TBV is a known heat complaint on these trucks. It can stick closed or leak internally, and that starves the cooler and lets transmission temps climb under load or while towing. Deleting it opens the circuit up. RevMax rates the change at up to 87 percent more flow to the cooler, which holds temps steadier on grades and in stop-and-go traffic.
