Scion tC Clutch Slave Cylinder and Release Bearing AISIN SCT-001

This is the AISIN SCT-001 concentric slave cylinder, made in Japan. The release bearing and hydraulic slave are built into one unit that mounts inside the bellhousing around the input shaft. AISIN is the original equipment supplier to Toyota for this part, and it crosses to Toyota 31400-39006.

Listed fitment is the 2011-2016 Scion tC and the 2010-2011 Toyota Camry with a manual transmission. The cylinder bore is anodized and plated to resist wear and corrosion, and the seals are EPDM rubber made to work with brake fluid.

A concentric slave is only reachable with the transmission out, so most shops replace it with every clutch kit. Replacing a leaking slave means pulling the transmission a second time. Signs it is failing: fluid dripping from the bellhousing weep area, a reservoir level that keeps dropping with no leak at the master cylinder, a soft or sinking pedal, a pedal that stays on the floor, or a growl or chirp when the pedal is pressed that goes away when you let off, which points to the bearing.

On the bench, check that the old unit matches: the mounting bolt pattern, the position of the hydraulic port and bleeder, and the bearing face. Bolt it to the transmission front cover, connect the line after the transmission is back in, and bleed at the bleeder until the fluid runs clear with no air. Then confirm full release with the engine running.
