Bolts onto a floor jack with a 1.17 in removable saddle shaft and turns it into a tilting transmission cradle rated to 1100 lb, with two safety chains.
This adapter replaces the saddle on a standard hydraulic floor jack and gives you a flat steel cradle with adjustable side brackets to carry a transmission or transfer case in and out from under the vehicle. It fits floor jacks whose saddle lifts out on a 1.17 in (about 1-3/16 in) shaft. Check your jack before ordering: if the saddle is welded or pressed on, this will not mount.
On the bench, pull the saddle, drop the adapter shaft into the jack's saddle bore, then set the four corner brackets to the width of the transmission pan rails. Roll the jack under, raise it until the cradle takes the weight, and hook both safety chains around the case before you pull the last bellhousing bolts. The head tilts about 30 degrees fore and aft, so you can match the angle of the input shaft to the engine and slide it off the dowels straight instead of prying on the converter.
Rated for 1100 lb, which covers passenger car and light truck automatics such as the 4L60E, 4L80E, 6L80, 68RFE, 4R70W and 5R110W, as well as manual gearboxes and transfer cases. A floor jack is not a tall telescoping transmission jack, so it is best suited to work on jack stands or a low lift. Keep the load centered and lower slowly; a loaded floor jack gets top-heavy at full height.
