TW-40LS Transmission Master Rebuild Kit Suzuki Every

The TW-40L and TW-40LS is the small four-speed automatic fitted to Japanese kei vans, kei trucks and sub-liter compacts, and it is showing up on more American benches every year as 25-year-rule imports come in. This is a master rebuild package: one complete overhaul (soft parts) kit, one full friction plate set and one full steel plate set, sold together so a teardown gets everything that wears in a single box. Reference numbers on the set are T20002C, T200080C and T200081C, and the transmission is marked TW-40L or TW-40LS on the case.

Documented applications are the Suzuki Every 0.7L 2004-2010, Suzuki Jimny 0.7L and 1.3L 2005-2015, Mitsubishi Minicab Van 0.7L 2014, Nissan A-Van 0.7L 2013-2016, Ford Pronto 1.0L 2000-2007, Varica mini bus 1.2L 2000-2004, and Veryca bus and truck 1.2L 2001-2016. These units share a case but not always a clutch count, so pull the ID tag or read the stamp on the bellhousing and match it to TW-40L/TW-40LS before you order. Parts for these gearboxes are thin on the ground in the US, which is exactly why you want the whole soft-parts set in hand before you split the case.

Use it the way you would any master kit: drop the unit, tear down to bare hard parts, and replace every friction and steel in the clutch packs along with the piston lip seals, the O-rings, the sealing rings and the case and pan gaskets. The failures these little units come in with are the usual ones - a slipping or flaring shift from glazed frictions, a delayed engagement from a hardened piston seal that will not hold apply pressure, and a wet pan rail from a gasket that has taken heat cycles for fifteen years. New frictions with fresh seals behind them put line pressure back where it belongs and the shifts come back crisp.

What is in the box is soft parts and clutch plates only. The torque converter, the filter, bushings, bearings, and hard parts such as drums, shafts and planetaries are not included - inspect those at teardown and source them separately if your unit needs them.
