09G TF-60SN Transmission Master Rebuild Kit with Filter

The 09G is Volkswagen's part number for the Aisin TF-60SN, the transverse six-speed torque-converter automatic used across the 2003-2013 VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda and Mini lineup. It is the box behind the classic complaints on these cars: a flare or bang on the 2-3 shift, a shudder in lockup, delayed engagement into drive when cold, and eventually a slip in third or fifth once the clutch material is gone. This is a master rebuild kit, which means it carries the friction plates, steel plates, filter, pan gasket and the complete seal, o-ring and sealing ring set needed to take the unit apart and put it back together without ordering pieces mid-job.

Confirm you have the 09G torque-converter automatic and not the DSG dual-clutch unit before ordering, since the two share none of these parts.

On the bench, the usual sequence is to strip the unit down, clean and inspect the drums and the valve body bores, then reassemble with the new frictions and steels in the factory stack order and every case, piston and shaft seal replaced from this kit. Air-check each clutch pack before the case goes back together. The 09G is a sealed transmission with no dipstick, so plan on refilling through the fill plug with the correct Aisin-spec fluid and setting the level at the specified fluid temperature -- getting that level wrong is a common reason a fresh rebuild comes back.
