GM 6L80 6L90 6T70 Pressure Switch Seal Install Tool Kit

On GM's 6-speed automatics the transmission control module (TEHCM) rides on top of the valve body and uses a set of small pressure switches to tell the computer what the hydraulic circuits are doing. Each switch is sealed by a thin clear laminate disc and a rubber seal. When those discs crack or the seals harden, fluid leaks past, the pressure signal goes bad, and the trans starts flaring, slamming, or hanging in 1st and 2nd gear. The usual dealer answer is a whole new TEHCM, which is a several-hundred-dollar part. This kit lets you rebuild the switches instead.

It fits the GM 6L45, 6L50, 6L80 and 6L90 rear-drive units and the 1st-generation 6T70 and 6T75 transverse units found under Silverado, Sierra, Camaro, CTS, Traverse, Acadia, Enclave, Lacrosse, Malibu, Equinox and Impala. It is made to work with the F/124740-30K seal-and-disc rebuild pack. The set contains a pusher piston, a seal plunger, a seal installer, and a dedicated laminate installation tool, plus five seals and five laminate discs, which is enough to redo one TEHCM.

On the bench you pull the TEHCM, work the old discs and seals out of the switch bores with a pick, then set the pusher piston in the bore, drop the new laminate disc in, and use the laminate tool to seat it flat, working it around the full circle so it does not fold. The seal plunger and installer pop the new rubber seals into place with a little ATF for lubrication. Take your time and the switches come back to normal operation without replacing the module.
