A master rebuild kit for the Ford 4F27E four-speed automatic, the same transaxle Mazda calls the FN4A-EL. It is found in the 2000-2018 Focus 2.0L and 2.3L, the 2010-2013 Transit Connect 2.0L, and many Mazda 3, 5, 6 and Tribute 2.3L applications.
Contents are an overhaul gasket and seal kit, a clutch plate kit, a band, a filter and a pump bushing. That covers the usual 4F27E failure: a burnt low/reverse and overdrive clutch after overheating, along with the worn pump bushing that lets pressure bleed off and makes the slip worse.
On the bench: replace the pump bushing while the pump is apart and check the new bushing for fit on the converter hub, soak the new frictions and band before assembly, set clutch clearances, and install the new filter before the pan goes back on. Interchange references include K71900KP and XS4Z-7D034-AB.
