Filter and oil pan gasket to service the GM 4L30E (AR25/AR35) behind BMW E34, E36, and E39 sixes, OE 24111218899 and 96015432.
This is the pan-service set for the GM 4L30E automatic, the unit BMW ran behind the M40, M42, M50, and M52 engines and badged AR25 and AR35. It fits the E36 318i, 318is, 318ti, 323i, 323is, 325i, 325is, 328i, and 328is (1992-1999), the E34 525i and 528i, and the Z3 (1996-2000). Any time you drop the pan for a fluid and filter change, or you are chasing harsh shifts and slipping that point to a clogged filter, this is what goes back in. OE references are 24111218899 and 96015432.
The kit includes the transmission filter that screws to the valve body and the oil pan gasket that seals the pan back to the case. The filter pulls debris and clutch material out of the fluid so it does not circulate through the valve body and plug the small passages that control shift feel. A worn or blocked filter shows up as delayed engagement, flare on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, or a shudder under load, and it is the first thing to replace before condemning anything more expensive.
On the bench, drain the pan, pull the old filter straight down off the valve body, seat the new filter fully so the pickup neck engages, and lay the new gasket dry against a clean pan flange. Torque the pan bolts evenly in a crossing pattern, then refill with the correct spec ATF and set the level hot. This is a non-OEM replacement kit. Confirm your car has the 4L30E automatic, not a manual or the later 5-speed, before ordering.
