4L30E Transmission Friction Clutch and Band Rebuild Kit

This is the friction-and-band side of a GM 4L30-E overhaul in one box: 24 pieces covering every clutch pack in the unit, the rigid low band, the pump bushing, the filter and a complete overhaul gasket set. Remco part number RK4L30. The 4L30-E is the longitudinal four-speed GM built for import platforms and it shows up under BMW 3-Series and 5-Series cars, the Cadillac Catera, the Honda Passport and Acura SLX, and the Isuzu Rodeo, Trooper, Amigo and VehiCROSS, so the same kit covers a wide spread of vehicles.

Read the contents before you order, because the plate counts and thicknesses are what make or break clutch clearance on this unit: six 2nd clutch frictions at .097 in, six 3rd clutch frictions at .063 in, four reverse frictions at .095 in, two 4th clutch frictions at .086 in, and two overrun frictions at .086 in. Those are the OE stack heights, so if you assemble with the correct steels the clearances come back where the book wants them.

Important: this kit does NOT include steel separator plates. If your teardown shows heat-blued, coned or grooved steels, order them separately before you start the job — mixing new frictions with cooked steels is the fastest way back into the same transmission. The pump bushing is included because a worn one lets the converter hub walk and takes out the front seal, which is a common cause of the front leak that sent the unit to the bench in the first place.

Use this kit on a 4L30-E that is slipping in a specific gear, flaring between shifts, or has burnt fluid and clutch material in the pan. Soak the new frictions in clean ATF before assembly, replace the filter and gasket set with the pan off, and confirm your unit is a 4L30-E and check its build date for any submodel differences in filter or band fitment before ordering.
