GEARWRENCH 161D 32-Blade SAE/Metric Feeler Gauge

A feeler gauge belongs on every transmission bench, and this GEARWRENCH 161D is the one that earns its keep. Thirty-two hardened blades fan out from a single locking body, each one stamped with both SAE and metric markings so you are not squinting or converting in your head while you check a clutch pack clearance or set bearing endplay against a case surface.

The blades span 0.0015 in to 0.035 in (0.038 to 0.889 mm), which covers the range you actually reach for when you are dialing in stack-up clearance on a rebuild, checking snap ring gaps, or confirming pump-to-body fit. A dedicated .010 in brass blade is included for spark-gap work near electronic ignition where a steel blade could cause a problem. Each blade is 3-5/16 in long, enough to reach into a tight case without forcing the whole tool in.

The pivoting body folds every blade back into the handle so nothing gets bent or rusted in a drawer, and the steel holds its calibration through years of shop use. Simple tool, but the difference between a rebuild that shifts right and one that comes back on the rack often comes down to whether someone actually checked the clearances. This lets you check them fast.
