Castrol Transmax DEX/MERC ATF 1 Gallon - Dexron III / Mercon

Castrol Transmax DEX/MERC is a Dexron III / Mercon grade automatic transmission fluid for the older GM and Ford automatics that were filled to those specs from the factory. One gallon, 128 fluid ounces, per jug.

On the GM side that covers the TH350, TH400, 700R4, 4L60, early 4L60E, 4L80E and 4T60E built before GM moved to Dexron VI. On the Ford side it fits the C4, C6, AOD, AODE, 4R70W, E4OD and 4R100 that called for Mercon before Mercon V and LV took over. Check your build's spec plate first: later GM units want Dexron VI and later Ford units want Mercon V or LV, and those newer fluids are not backward compatible with a DEX/MERC unit.

The additive package leans on calcium sulfonate and molybdenum disulfide for high-temperature oxidation resistance and copper corrosion protection, so the fluid stays stable in a converter that runs hot under load. Use it for a pan-drop and filter service or a full flush-and-fill. A pan drop on a 4L60E or AOD takes roughly 4 to 6 quarts; a complete flush is closer to 10 to 12. It also meets Dexron III where a hydraulic system or power steering pump specifies that fluid.
