68RFE Heavy Duty Cast Aluminum Transmission Oil Pan

Cast aluminum replacement transmission pan for the Chrysler 68RFE, the six-speed automatic behind the 6.7L Cummins in 2007-2025 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks. It replaces part number 228052110 (OE equivalent 228052100). The stamped factory pan on these trucks dents easily on rocks and trailer hitches, and a dented pan will hold the filter neck off its seat and let the pump pull air on hard launches. A cast pan does not deform when a wrench or a road hazard hits it.

Casting is high-strength aluminum, 19.1 x 6.2 x 6.4 inches. The extra depth and the aluminum itself pull heat out of the fluid, which is the whole point on a truck that tows: 68RFE fluid temperature is what kills the overdrive and underdrive clutch packs, and stock pans give you very little thermal mass to work with. The filter element mounts directly to the pan, so a service is a drop, a wipe, and a new element rather than fighting the neck seal up inside the case.

Install is the same as any 68RFE pan drop. Get the fluid out first, break the bolts loose in a cross pattern and leave two in at opposite corners so the pan does not fall on you, then scrape both surfaces clean down to bare metal. Torque the pan bolts evenly in a spiral from the center out and do not run them up with an impact - aluminum pans strip and warp if you gorilla the fasteners. Refill and check level hot, in gear, at idle.

Fits 2007-2025 Ram 2500 6.7L and 2007-2025 Ram 3500 6.7L with the 68RFE. Gasket and filter are not included - order those separately and replace both any time the pan comes off.
