Replaces the worn pressure regulator valve in GM 6L45, 6L50, 6L80 and 6L90 valve bodies to restore line pressure and cure low-pressure slip codes like P0776.
The GM 6L80 and 6L90 family lives and dies on line pressure, and the first thing to go is the bore the pressure regulator valve rides in. As the aluminum valve body wears, the regulator valve loses its seal, pressure bleeds off, and the transmission starts slipping, flaring on the 1-2 and 2-3, and setting pressure and ratio codes. Left alone it cooks the clutches. This kit swaps the worn pressure regulator valve and the solenoid regulator valve components for correctly sized replacements that seal the bore again and bring holding pressure back to spec.
It fits the six-speed rear-wheel-drive family used across GM, Chevy, Cadillac, GMC, Hummer, Holden and Pontiac from 2006 on: 6L45, 6L50, 6L80 and 6L90. It addresses the common low-pressure and pressure-control fault codes, including P0729, P0731, P0732, P0733, P0734, P0735, P0751, P0752, P0756, P0757, P0761, P0762, P0776 and P0777.
Installation is bench work with the valve body out of the trans: drop the pan, pull the valve body, remove the old pressure regulator valve and spring, clean the bore, then drop in the replacement valve and reassemble.
