A340E Master Rebuild Kit with Frictions and Steels, Crown and Supra

This is a full master overhaul kit for the Aisin-Warner A340 family, the rear-wheel-drive and 4WD four-speed automatic Toyota ran for years behind the 22RE, 3VZ, 5VZ, 7M and 2JZ engines. The kit covers the A340E and A340F, and the seller lists it for the A340H, A341E and A343F variants as well. It includes the friction plates and steel plates along with the overhaul gasket and seal set, so one box puts every clutch pack and sealing surface back to new.

Listed fitment: 1989-2004 Toyota 4Runner, 1988-1998 Supra, 1988-1992 Cressida, and Crown 3.0L, 3.4L and 4.0L applications. The A340F is the 4WD version with the integrated transfer adapter, so confirm your tag and compare the plate count and pan gasket against your old parts before tearing in.

What is in the box: lined friction plates, steel plates, the cork pan gasket, front pump and extension housing seals, piston lip seals and D-rings, and the Teflon and cast iron sealing rings for the shafts and drums. Hard parts such as the pump, drums, bands and valve body are not included.

When to use it: slipping on the 2-3 or 3-4 shift, a flare into overdrive, delayed engagement into drive or reverse, or burnt fluid with friction material in the pan are all signs the clutch packs are worn through. Soak the new frictions in clean Type T-IV compatible ATF for at least 30 minutes, check clutch pack clearance on each drum as you stack it, and replace the filter before the unit goes back in.
