AB60E Transmission Master Rebuild Kit Toyota Tundra

The AB60E is the Aisin six-speed longitudinal automatic Toyota put behind the 3UR-FE 5.7L V8. AB60E is the two-wheel-drive version, AB60F the four-wheel-drive version with the transfer case adapter; internally they share the same clutch packs and soft parts, so one master set covers both. This kit is the soft-part and clutch-material side of a full rebuild: friction plates, heat-treated steel plates, and the seal and gasket set for the pump, drums, servo and case.

Fitment is Toyota Tundra 5.7L V8 2007-2011 and Sequoia 5.7L V8 2008-2011. These units usually come apart because of heat, not miles. A Tundra that has pulled a trailer through summer with the stock cooler cooks the C1 and C2 frictions, and the first symptoms a driver reports are a flare on the 2-3 shift, a delayed engagement into drive when cold, or a burnt-toast smell on the dipstick. By the time the fluid is brown, the clutch material is already in the pan and in the solenoid screens.

On the bench, tear down and measure clutch clearance pack by pack before you assume the kit fixes it. Air-check every circuit through the case after the drums go back in, and inspect the pump gears and the stator support bushings while the unit is apart - this kit does not include hard parts, so if the pump is scored or a bushing is walked out, source those separately before you start assembly. Replace the pan filter at the same time; it is a separate part number and is not in this set. Reuse of a converter that dumped debris will put you right back in the same transmission, so cut and clean or replace it.

Set clutch clearances to spec with the selective steels, prime the pump before the converter goes in, and fill with Toyota WS fluid only - AB60 units are sensitive to fluid type and will shudder on the lockup clutch with the wrong ATF. Check level at the correct pan temperature through the overflow plug, not by guessing.
