A steerable dual-lens inspection camera that drives its own tip left and right through the case so you can eyeball a slipping band, a chewed-up planetary, or a cracked cooler line without pulling the transmission down first.
Most of the time a transmission problem is hiding somewhere you cannot see. You can feel the slip on the road and read the code at the plug, but the actual damage is buried inside the case, up a cooler line, or behind the valve body where no flashlight and mirror will ever reach. That is where a real articulating borescope earns its keep. Instead of a fixed camera on a stiff wire that just points wherever the cable happens to bend, the DS650 lets you steer the tip. A side-mounted control wheel swings the head 210 degrees, two ways, so you can turn the lens around a corner, walk it down a passage, and put the picture exactly where you need it with one hand.
It runs two cameras at once. A forward lens and a side lens feed a split screen on the 4.5-inch IPS display, so you are looking straight ahead and off to the side at the same time and you stop missing the thing that is right next to the tip. Both lenses shoot 1080p and carry their own adjustable light, so a dark oil-filled case reads clearly instead of washing out. There is no app and no WiFi pairing to fight with. You power it on and the screen is live, which is exactly what you want when you are on the clock and just need to look at something.
The 10-foot semi-rigid cable holds a shape when you bend it, so you can pre-form it to snake past a crossmember or up into a bellhousing and it stays put. The head is IP67 sealed to sit in fluid, and a built-in high-temperature warning tells you when the tip is somewhere too hot to leave sitting. Use it to scope a torque converter through the inspection cover, check a pan for clutch material and metal before you commit to a rebuild, inspect cooler lines and cylinder bores, or run it through walls and drains around the shop. It is the tool that turns a guess into a look.
