Reads automatic transmission line pressure to 426 PSI on a digital gauge that holds max, min and differential values through a road test.
This is a digital replacement for the old analog trans pressure gauge. It reads 0 to 30 bar (0 to 426.6 PSI) through a pressure transducer instead of a bourdon tube, so a line pressure reading lands within 0.5 percent of full scale at 0.01 bar resolution. The 2.8 inch backlit LCD shows current, max, min and differential pressure at the same time, which is the part that matters on a road test - you drive the car, then read the peak the gauge captured instead of trying to watch a needle bounce while you shift.
Bench and lift use is straightforward. Warm the trans to operating temperature, pull the line pressure tap plug, thread in the adapter that matches your test port, zero the gauge, and read pressure at idle in Park, then in Drive and Reverse, then at a wide-open-throttle stall check against the pressure chart in the service manual. Low pressure across every range points at the pump, the pressure regulator valve, or a worn bore. Pressure that is correct in Park but drops in one range only points at a leaking circuit or a clutch seal in that circuit. Pressure that will not rise with throttle points at the EPC or line pressure solenoid and its TCM command.
The kit ships with an oil-resistant hose and riveted copper adapters in common metric, NPT and quick-connect sizes, so it covers most automatic transmission and engine oil pressure taps - check the thread on your test port against the adapter set before you order if you are working on an uncommon case. The sensor carries a 40 bar overload rating so a stall-test pressure spike will not wreck it, and the unit is rated to work from -10 C to 60 C, which covers a cold garage and a hot trans bay. Buttons lock a reading, clear stored values, and re-zero the gauge, and the display switches between PSI, bar and kg/cm2.
