Dual-gauge kit that reads cylinder compression to 725 psi and leak-down percentage on both petrol and diesel engines, with 46 adapters.
A combined compression and leak-down set that covers both gasoline and diesel cylinders out of one case. The compression side reads on a dual-scale gauge to 50 bar (725 psi), which is enough range for direct-injection diesels where a gasoline-only 300 psi gauge pegs out and tells you nothing. A pressure relief valve is built into the gauge body, so you bleed the line down before you crack the adapter loose instead of taking a face full of fuel mist.
The leak-down half is a dual gauge: regulated shop air goes in on one side, and the second needle shows the percentage of that air escaping the cylinder. That is the test that actually names the failure. Hold the piston at TDC on the compression stroke, pressurize, and listen: air out the throttle body or intake is an intake valve, air out the exhaust is an exhaust valve, air out the oil fill or dipstick tube is rings or a scored bore, and bubbles in the coolant recovery tank is a head gasket or a cracked head. A percentage reading also lets you compare cylinders to each other rather than guessing off a single number.
Adapter coverage is the reason to buy the 46-piece set instead of a bare gauge. It includes M10, M12, M14 and M18 spark plug adapters for gasoline engines, plus M20, M22, M24 and Ford/Stanadyne injector adapters so you can test through the injector or glow plug bore on HDi, TDCi and Pumpe Duse diesels. Fittings are aluminum alloy and brass, the hose is rated for the heat and pressure it sees at the head, and the gauge carries a rubber boot. Everything stores in a blow-molded case with cut foam.
Bench note: this is an engine diagnostic, not a transmission tool. Run it before you condemn a converter or a transmission for a shudder or a low-power complaint. A dead cylinder and a slipping clutch pack feel similar from the driver seat, and this kit settles which one you are chasing in about twenty minutes.
