Ford Focus Fiesta DPS6 Dual Clutch Reset/Reinstall Tool

This is the reset fixture for the Ford DPS6 PowerShift dry dual-clutch transmission, also called the 6DCT250. Once you pull a used dual-clutch assembly off the transmission, the clutch spring fingers stay tripped and the pack will not seat back onto the input shafts. This tool re-springs and re-trips those fingers so a good used clutch can go back in, instead of throwing $500-plus at a new DCT clutch assembly for a car that just needs a reseal or an input shaft seal.

It fits the Ford DPS6 / 6DCT250 six-speed dry dual-clutch used in the Focus 2012-2018, Fiesta 2011-2019, and Transit Connect 2019. This is the same platform notorious for shudder, slipping, and clutch-position faults, so the clutch comes off often for input shaft seal leaks that soak the dry clutch in fluid. When the only fault is a seal, a good clutch pack can be reset and reused with this fixture rather than replaced.

On the bench it is straightforward: after the clutch assembly is off, set the fixture over the pack, press the input shaft area tight, and run the threaded bar in about 20 turns past the point where it first makes solid contact. That resets the clutch fingers so the pack lines up and reinstalls on the shafts. Read the instructions all the way through before you crank on it and do not force it past the reset point, since over-driving the threaded bar is how a clutch gets damaged. Work slow and let the tool do the resetting.
