Bidirectional 4-system scan tool that reads and clears engine, transmission, ABS and SRS codes, runs active tests and 9 service resets on 1996-up vehicles.
The FOXWELL NT716 is a bidirectional scan tool that covers the four systems that actually strand a vehicle: the engine (powertrain), the transmission (TCM), the ABS, and the SRS airbag. It is a step up from a plain code reader because it reads and clears codes in each of those modules, pulls live data, and, more importantly, sends commands back to the vehicle. That two-way control is what lets you cycle a component on the bench or on the car and watch whether it actually responds, instead of guessing from a stored code.
On the transmission side it talks to the TCM, so you can read and clear transmission fault codes and watch the live data that tells you what is really happening: fluid temperature, input and output shaft speed, commanded versus actual gear, and solenoid state. That is the difference between condemning a good unit and finding a lazy shift solenoid or a temperature sensor reading out of range. The active test function commands actuators directly, fuel pump, cooling fan, injectors, A/C relay, so you can confirm a part works before you spend money replacing it.
It carries nine service resets that a basic tool will not do: ABS automatic bleeding, oil light reset, electronic parking brake (EPB) service, battery registration (BMS), DPF regeneration, throttle body relearn, injector coding, TPMS, and steering angle sensor (SAS) calibration. Those are the jobs that normally send you back to the dealer after brake, battery, or throttle work. Note it does not do key programming.
The unit runs on Android 9.0 with a 5.5 inch color touchscreen and a 4000mAh battery, and it uses Auto VIN to identify the vehicle instead of making you scroll menus. Coverage spans a wide range of domestic, Asian, and European cars, light trucks, and SUVs from 1996 up, with lifetime Wi-Fi software updates at no charge. It ships in a protective carry case with the diagnostic cable, a USB-C cable, and the quick start guide. Ships from the USA.
