GOOLOO DS200 Bluetooth Bidirectional OBD2 Scanner

This is a matchbox-sized Bluetooth dongle that turns a phone into an all-system scanner. It plugs into the OBDII port and reads engine, transmission, airbag, ABS, ESP, TPMS and immobilizer modules, pulling fault codes, ECU information and live streaming data. For transmission work the useful part is that it reaches the TCM rather than stopping at the powertrain generic codes, so a shift fault or pressure-solenoid code shows up with the rest of the report.

Bidirectional control is the reason to pick this over a plain code reader. You send a command from the phone to the ECU and make a component actuate on demand, wipers, windows, headlights, fuel injectors, and watch whether it responds. If it does not, you have isolated the failed part without back-probing the circuit first. Eight maintenance resets are on board as well: oil reset, throttle adaptation, EPB, steering angle, DPF regeneration, ABS bleeding, BMS and airbag reset.

Be aware of how the software is licensed. The first 12 months include full access to bidirectional control and the maintenance resets at no additional charge. After that first year, continued access to the advanced functions runs on a paid subscription, offered monthly, quarterly or annually. Basic code reading is not the part that lapses, but budget for the renewal if you rely on the bidirectional tests.

It connects over Bluetooth 5.0 to Android 7.0 or iOS 11.0 and newer within about a 10-meter range, and displays live data as graphs, numbers or dials. Coverage spans 1996-and-newer gas vehicles across more than 10,000 models. It also supports FCA, Renault and Nissan gateway unlock, though gateway access requires your own manufacturer account. The unit measures 3 by 1.8 by 1.2 inches and weighs under 3 ounces.
