A basic code reader talks to the engine computer and nothing else, which is useless the moment a truck sets a shift-timing or pressure-control fault. The DS600 is an all-system handheld: it scans the transmission control module alongside engine, ABS and SRS, pulls the stored DTCs with freeze-frame data, and clears them once the repair is actually done. On the transmission side that means you can read the TCM codes that cause harsh 1-2 shifts, slipping, or a stuck-in-limp condition instead of guessing from the check-engine light alone.

AutoVIN reads the VIN off the port and AutoScan then walks every supported module and returns a full health report, so you can run a scan before you pull a unit and another after it goes back in and compare the two. Live data streams in four formats, graph, text, waveform or combined, which is how you watch line pressure, RPM, vehicle speed and coolant temp move in real time and separate a genuinely failing sensor from a wiring or connector fault.

Nine reset functions are included at no extra cost: electronic parking brake, steering angle sensor, battery management, throttle body relearn, TPMS, ABS bleeding, injector coding and I/M readiness among them. There are no subscription fees for the OBD2 functions, the nine resets or the four-system diagnostics, and updates are free for the life of the tool. Twenty-one further advanced functions are offered as optional paid add-ons and are not needed for normal service work.

The unit runs Android 11 on a 5-inch touchscreen, weighs 2.2 pounds, and covers OBD2-compliant cars and 12V light trucks built from 1996 on across more than 70 brands, with CAN FD and FCA AutoAuth support for late-model vehicles. System-level coverage varies by make and model. It is a diagnostic tool, not a repair tool: fix the underlying fault first, then clear the code.
