Hammer-grip ratchet floor shifter with cable, console cover and boot for TH350, TH400, 700R4, C4, C6 and A727 three- and four-speed automatics.
This is a complete floor-mount ratchet shifter kit in the style of the B&M 80885 Hammer. The box includes the shifter mechanism with the hammer-style grip, a shift cable, the console cover with the gear indicator plate and light, a shift boot, neutral safety and backup light switches, and the brackets and hardware to hook the cable to the transmission.
It works with both three- and four-speed automatics. Listed fitment: GM TH200, TH250, TH350, TH400, 200-4R, 700R4 and 4L60/4L60E; Ford C4 and C6; and 1966-and-later Chrysler Torqueflite A727 and A904. The TH350 is the most common install, but the same shifter covers the four-speed GM overdrive units, which is the main difference from a three-speed-only ratchet shifter. On an electronic 4L60E that uses a case-mounted range switch, check how your range switch and harness will see the manual lever position before you finalize the cable bracket.
Normal operation is a conventional detent shifter through P-R-N-D and the lower gears. Pulling the trigger switches it to ratchet action so you can step down one gear at a time without overshooting into neutral or reverse, which is why it gets used in street/strip and swap builds where the original column linkage is gone.
On the bench side, a sloppy or worn column linkage can leave the manual valve sitting between detents, which lets a clutch pack or band slip until it burns. A floor shifter and cable adjusted so the manual lever lands squarely in each detent fixes that. Set the cable with the transmission lever and the shifter both in park, then confirm neutral start and the backup lights work before the car goes back on the ground.
