Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ V8 Front Driveshaft 938-141

This is a complete front driveshaft assembly for the V8 ZJ Jeep Grand Cherokee. It replaces Mopar 52098865 and cross-references to Dorman 938-141.

Listed fitment: 1996-1998 Grand Cherokee 4WD with the 5.2L V8 and 44RE automatic, 1996 Grand Cherokee AWD with the 5.2L and 44RE, and 1998 Grand Cherokee 4WD with the 5.9L V8 and 46RE. Six-cylinder ZJs use a different shaft.

Installed length runs 29.65 to 32.4 in, with a 2.01 in tube and 0.079 in wall. On a ZJ this old, a seized or notchy joint, a torn boot, or a clunk when the transfer case engages are the usual reasons it gets replaced. At this age a full shaft is often a better repair than chasing individual joints.

Install: mark the flanges, remove the bolts at the front axle and the transfer case, and pull the shaft. Fit the new one in the same orientation, torque to factory spec, and road test.
