JF405E Transmission Valve Body for Chevy Kia Suzuki

The JF405E is the Jatco four-speed that ended up under a lot of small front-wheel-drive cars, and it shares its casting with the JF402E. When these units start flaring on the 1-2, hanging in second, or throwing a solenoid performance code, the valve body is usually where the problem lives. Aluminum bore wear on the pressure control and shift valves lets fluid cross-leak, and no amount of fresh fluid fixes a bore that has worn oval.

This is the complete assembly rather than a separator plate or a loose solenoid, so you are replacing the worn bores, the plate and the solenoids in one piece. OEM reference numbers are JF405E and JF402E. It fits the Jatco 4-speed as used in small Chevrolet, Kia and Suzuki applications across the 1.0L through 3.7L range depending on market and model year. Confirm your casting against the photos and your existing part number before ordering, since Jatco used several separator plate variations in this family.

Install notes: drop the pan, drain the fluid, disconnect the internal harness connector and note the routing, then unbolt the valve body working from the outside in so the body comes off flat. Torque the valve body bolts evenly in the factory pattern, replace the filter and pan gasket, refill through the fill port and check level at operating temperature. Relearn the adaptive shift values with a scan tool after the first road test.
