Master overhaul kit of frictions, steels, seals and gaskets to rebuild the JF506E five-speed automatic in VW, Ford, Jaguar, Mazda and Land Rover.
The JF506E is the Jatco five-speed automatic that shows up under a lot of European and Japanese metal. VW and Audi call it the 09A/09B, Mazda badges it the 5F31J, and Nissan lists it as the RE5F01A. This master kit covers the wear items you replace on a bench rebuild in one box: the friction plates, steel plates, sealing rings, rubber lip seals, and the full gasket set.
Fitment runs across the family: VW Golf, Jetta/Bora and Sharan Mk4; Audi A3 Mk1; SEAT Alhambra; Ford Mondeo Mk3 and Galaxy; Jaguar X-Type; Land Rover Freelander Mk1; and the Mazda MPV 3.0L V6, covering roughly 1996 through 2010 depending on chassis. Confirm your part number against the case tag before you order, since the 09A and 09B share the family but not every internal.
On the bench, strip the unit down, soak the new frictions in ATF before assembly, and set each clutch pack clearance as you stack it. Fresh sealing rings on the drums and a new gasket set are what stop the cross-leaks that send this transmission into limp mode or kill reverse. The JF506E is known for harsh or slipping shifts and lost gears once the frictions glaze and the seals harden, and a full teardown with new soft parts and frictions is the fix that lasts.
What this kit does not include is the steel drum hardware or the pump, so reuse your good hard parts and inspect the bushings while it is apart. Buy your solenoids and torque converter separately if testing shows they are gone.
