LAUNCH Creader VII+ V3.0 Transmission and Engine Scan Tool

The LAUNCH Creader VII+ V3.0 is the entry-level four-system reader in LAUNCH's Creader line, and it covers the modules that matter on a driveability or shift complaint: transmission, engine, ABS, and SRS. On each of those four it reads and clears manufacturer fault codes rather than just generic OBD-II powertrain codes, which is the difference between seeing a bare P0700 and seeing the actual TCM-side code stored behind it.

For transmission work the useful part is the live data stream. You can watch parameters in a text list or plot them as a graph, record a session while you drive, and play it back at the bench. That is how you catch an intermittent - a solenoid command that drops out only under load, or a temperature that climbs before the shift goes away. Freeze-frame data is stored with the code so you can see the conditions present when it set, and recorded sessions can be printed out through a PC.

Three service resets are built in: throttle adaptation, oil light reset, and steering angle (SAS) reset. Throttle adaptation is the one that earns its keep alongside transmission work - after a throttle body cleaning or a battery disconnect, an unrelearned throttle gives you an unstable idle and lazy tip-in that gets blamed on the transmission. Note that available resets vary by make and model, so check your vehicle before you count on a specific function.

The tool reads on a 3.5-inch 1280x720 color screen, plugs straight into the OBD-II port for power, and covers OBD-II-equipped vehicles from 1996 up, including 12V diesels. Software updates are free for the life of the tool and run over WiFi from the tool itself - no PC, no cable, no SD card, and no annual subscription.
