The CRP129 Expert is Launch's step up from the CRP123 Advanced, and the reason it matters on a transmission bench is the gearbox matching service. After a valve body swap, a solenoid pack replacement or a full rebuild, the TCM is still running the shift adapts it learned from the worn unit. Clear them and the transmission relearns against the new clutch clearances instead of fighting them. Without that reset you get a flare on the 2-3 or a bang into reverse that has nothing to do with the work you just did.
It reads and clears codes on four systems - engine, transmission, ABS and SRS - with live data, freeze frame and full OBD2 mode support. Thirteen reset services are included: gearbox matching, oil reset, EPB, SAS, DPF, BMS, throttle adaptation, injector coding, ABS bleeding, AdBlue reset, AFS headlamp calibration, A/F tuning and TPMS reset.
Hardware is a 4-core CPU on Android 8.1 with 64GB of storage and a 6000mAh battery, so it holds several years of vehicle software without running out of room mid-update. It supports CAN FD and DoIP for newer GM, Ford and Chrysler architectures, has FCA AutoAuth built in for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram secure gateway vehicles, and does Auto VIN identification. Software updates are free for the life of the tool.
