Motive Gear R7.5FRMK Ford 7.5 Differential Master Bearing Kit

This is a master bearing overhaul kit for the Ford 7.5-inch (10-bolt) rear differential. It carries everything the axle needs to be reset with fresh bearings: Koyo carrier (side) bearings and races, Koyo pinion bearings and races, a new collapsible crush sleeve, pinion nut, pinion seal, a carrier and pinion shim kit, and gear-marking compound. Use it any time you open a 7.5 to swap ring and pinion, chase a bearing noise, or rebuild a worn carrier.

The Ford 7.5 ring gear sits behind a lot of rear-drive Fords: Ranger, Aerostar, Bronco II, Explorer, and the V6 and small-V8 Mustang, along with Fairmont, Thunderbird and Cougar of the same era. If your axle howls on acceleration or coast, whines at highway speed, or has metal in the cover, the carrier and pinion bearings are usually the cause. Reusing old bearings after a gear swap is how you end up back under the truck, so a master kit is the right call whenever the pinion comes out.

On the bench, press the old races out, set pinion depth with the shim pack and check your pattern with the included marking compound, then load the new crush sleeve and torque the pinion nut to spec until you reach the correct rotating preload. Set carrier bearing preload and backlash with the side shims, confirm the gear pattern one more time, and install the new pinion seal. Setting up a ring and pinion takes patience and a couple of specialty tools (a pinion depth gauge and a dial indicator help), but this kit gives you every wear part in one box so you are not waiting on a back-ordered bearing halfway through the job.
