Nodular Iron Differential Cover for Dana 60 Axle

A stamped-steel diff cover is the weak point on any Dana 60. It flexes under load, it dents when the axle finds a rock, and a hard hit can crack it open and dump gear oil on the trail. This is a thick-wall nodular iron replacement (part number YHCC-D60) that bolts straight onto a Dana 60 housing in place of the factory cover. The extra wall thickness braces the case so the bearing caps hold their preload instead of walking when the ring gear loads up.

It fits Dana 60 front and rear housings and comes as a complete bolt-on: the cover, a magnetic drain plug, and stainless steel cover bolts. The drain plug is the part techs care about most. You pull it, catch the used oil in a pan, and read the magnet. Fine gray fuzz is normal break-in wear. Chips and flakes on that magnet mean a tooth is loading wrong and you go in before it grenades. A factory cover gives you none of that - you scrape the whole cover off and hope.

Install is straightforward on the ground. Drain the axle, break the old cover loose, scrape both sealing surfaces down to clean metal, then run a bead of RTV or set the gasket and torque the supplied bolts in a criss-cross pattern. Refill through the fill plug to the bottom of the hole. Powder coated finish, machined sealing face, 18.77 lb shipping weight - this cover is heavy on purpose.
