Sonnax 76948-02K AODE/4R70W Boost Valve and Sleeve Kit

The Sonnax 76948-02K is a replacement line pressure boost valve and matching sleeve for the Ford AODE and 4R70W-family valve body. Part number 76948-02K (7694802K) fits the AODE, 4R70W, 4R75W, 4R75E and 4T70E, and the valve and sleeve are machined from hardcoat anodized aluminum so they hold their sealing surface far better than the soft factory parts.

The boost valve sits in the pressure regulator bore and controls how much line pressure the pump builds under load. As miles add up, the stock valve and its bore wear and start bleeding pressure off at the boost circuit. On the bench and on the road that shows up as soft or slipping shifts, low line pressure at the gauge, and burned clutches or a cooked converter clutch from not enough apply pressure. Installing the valve and sleeve as a matched set gives you a fresh sealing surface and brings line pressure back where it belongs.

Installation is a valve body job. With the valve body off and the pressure regulator bore accessible, drive out the old boost valve and sleeve, clean the bore, and slide the new Sonnax sleeve and valve in the same orientation, held in by the PR valve spring and retainer. Check that the valve strokes freely in the sleeve before you close everything back up.

Note on contents: this kit is the boost valve and sleeve only. It does not include the main pressure regulator valve, so if your PR valve is also worn, order the separate Sonnax 76948-09 to do the whole circuit at once.
