THINKSCAN 662 Bidirectional OBD2 Scanner with Active Test

A code reader that only talks to the engine computer is useless the moment a transmission fault sets. The THINKSCAN 662 reads and clears codes on four control modules, engine, transmission, ABS and SRS airbag, so when a shift solenoid code, a TCC slip code or a speed sensor fault shows up you can pull it, look at the freeze frame and see the live data behind it instead of guessing from a check engine light.

The reason this one costs more than a basic reader is bidirectional control. It carries over 3,000 active tests, which means the tool commands a component instead of just watching it. You can cycle the ABS pump to bleed a module, switch radiator fans on and off, fire injectors one at a time, run throttle relearn and oil pressure control. On a transmission diagnosis that is the difference between replacing a solenoid on a hunch and commanding it while you listen and watch pressure respond. Twelve service resets are included, including oil, brake, SAS, throttle and battery registration.

Hardware is a 6.2 inch 1024x600 touchscreen over a quad core 1.8GHz processor with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage on Android 8, with a 4150mAh battery so it runs off the vehicle or on its own. Live data merges up to four PIDs onto one graph, which is how you catch a speed sensor dropping out or line pressure falling off under load. AutoVIN pulls the VIN and loads the right software, CAN-FD and FCA SGW protocols are supported for late model GM and Chrysler, and software updates are free for life over WiFi.

This is a diagnostic and service tool, not a factory scan tool. It does not do module programming or key coding. For a driveway or a small shop working GM, Ford, Dodge and import automatics, it covers the work you actually bill for.
