TOPDON TopScan Pro Bidirectional OBD2 Scanner TCM ABS

The TOPDON TopScan Pro is a Bluetooth OBD2 dongle that turns a phone into a full-system scan tool. It plugs into the 16-pin DLC and pairs with the TopGuru Pro app on iOS or the TopScan app on Android, covering OBD2 vehicles from 1996 up across more than 10,000 models, including CAN FD and authorized FCA AutoAuth and Nissan gateway access on late-model vehicles with locked gateways.

For transmission work the part that matters is full-system access. A generic code reader only pulls generic P-codes off the engine controller, so a transmission complaint comes back as a bare P0700 with no detail behind it. This one talks to the TCM directly, so you can read and clear the manufacturer-specific transmission codes the ECM is only pointing at, then stream live data from the same module while the vehicle drives. That is how you separate a real hydraulic or clutch problem from a sensor or wiring fault before the pan ever comes off.

Bidirectional control is the other half. Active tests let you command components from the phone rather than guessing from a code, so you can cycle fuel injectors, cooling fans, coolant pumps, A/C clutches, headlights, wipers, windows and doors to confirm whether a part actually responds. It also carries 13-plus service resets, including oil reset, electronic parking brake, battery management (BMS), steering angle (SAS), DPF, injector coding and throttle relearn, plus built-in DTC repair guides, factory TSBs, DLC location and a warning-light library.

Read the licensing before you buy, because it is not all free forever. Core OBD2 diagnostics, full-system code reading, I/M readiness and performance tests are free for the life of the tool. The advanced features, meaning bidirectional control, service resets, live data and code clearing, are included free for the first year and then renew at $99 per year. Gateway access on FCA and Nissan carries its own separate yearly fee charged by the manufacturer, not by TOPDON. Supports 45 languages and carries a 1-year warranty.
