Genuine Toyota WS ATF 00289-ATFWS - 6 Quart Case

This is factory Toyota WS (World Standard) automatic transmission fluid, part number 00289-ATFWS, in a six-quart case. WS is the low-viscosity, full-synthetic fluid that Toyota and Lexus specify for their sealed automatics from roughly 2004 up. It is not interchangeable with the older Type IV (T-IV) fluid or with generic Dexron; the friction characteristics and viscosity are specific to the WS-calibrated valve bodies and lockup converters, and running the wrong fluid is a common cause of harsh or flaring shifts on these units.

WS is the correct fill for the common Aisin-built Toyota transaxles and transmissions including the U660E and U760E six-speeds (Camry, Avalon, RAV4, Sienna, Highlander), the A760/A960/AB60 rear-drive units (Tacoma, Tundra, 4Runner, Sequoia, and Lexus IS/GS/LS), and matching Lexus applications. Most of these transmissions have no dipstick and are filled through a check port with the pan at a set temperature, so a drain-and-fill typically takes about three to four quarts and a full flush uses more. The six-quart case covers a standard drain-and-fill with fluid to spare, or use two cases for a full exchange. Fill through the overflow tube or check port using a transfer pump and bring the fluid to the specified temperature window before setting the level.
