U760E Transmission Shift Solenoid Kit, 7-Piece Set

Seven-piece shift and pressure control solenoid set for the Aisin U760E six-speed automatic transaxle. These are the solenoids that bolt to the valve body and do the actual shifting: the on/off shift solenoids that route line pressure to the clutch packs, the linear pressure control solenoids that ramp apply pressure during a shift, and the solenoid that controls torque converter clutch apply. When one of them sticks or its winding opens, the TCM loses control of that circuit and the shift either bangs, slips, or never happens.

The U760E and its all-wheel-drive sibling the U760F went into a lot of transverse Toyota product from 2007 forward, and it is a transaxle that usually fails electrically long before it fails mechanically. Typical symptoms that trace to these solenoids are a harsh or flared 2-3 shift, a shudder that shows up under light throttle at highway speed, a shift that hangs until you lift, and limp mode after a hard shift. On the scanner the codes that point here are P0741 for the torque converter clutch circuit, P2716 for pressure control solenoid D, and the P0748 / P0778 / P0798 electrical family. Verify your unit by the transmission tag before you order, not by model year alone, since Toyota also used the six-speed U660E in overlapping vehicles and the solenoids are not interchangeable.

Replacing them is a pan-down job on most of these cars. Drop the pan, pull the filter, unplug the internal harness connectors, and unbolt each solenoid retainer. Note where each solenoid came from before you pull it - they are not all the same and they are not all the same resistance. Set the new ones in with clean fluid on the O-rings, torque the retainers lightly by hand so you do not distort the bore, then reconnect the harness. After the pan is back on, refill, do a fluid level check at the correct pan temperature, and clear codes so the TCM starts its shift adapts from a known point.
